City of Nanaimo Seeks Public Input on Linley Valley Access

October 14, 2015

NANAIMO – The City of Nanaimo is seeking public input on access options to Linley Valley West, a new North Nanaimo neighborhood currently being developed in the Linley Valley between Rutherford Road and the new Linley Valley Park.

“We had some great feedback at the recent open house and look forward to hearing from those residents unable to attend via the online survey,” explained Dale Lindsay the City’s Director of Community Development.

An open house was held at Oliver Woods Community Centre Thursday, October 8 which was well attended by residents and provided valuable feedback for City staff. For those who weren’t able to attend the open house, a survey is available to fill out online and in person at the Service and Resource Centre.

Key Points:

  • Those wishing to provide input can do so by completing an survey online or in person at the Service and Resource Centre. The survey will be available until Friday, October 16
  • Once feedback is received, staff will provide Council with the results from the consultation process and inform the selection of a preferred access option
  • The City would like to thank all residents that attended the Linley Valley West Neighborhood Access Open House at Oliver Woods Community Centre

Quick Facts:

  • Due to recent changes to land use, parks and transportation a new multi-modal access plan is being developed for this growing neighborhood
  • Two access options are being considered; a new road linking Linley Valley Drive and Rutherford Road at Nelson Rd or utilizing existing neighborhood streets to link to Rutherford at Vanderneuk Rd and Brookwood Dr.
