By Dianne Hawkins, President and CEO of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce.

COMOX VALLEY – On January 11, 2018 the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce will host an economic forecasting event for the region. Partnering with MNP and Comox Valley Economic Development Society; the Chamber is able to provide regional, provincial, and hyper-local forecasts for Chamber and business members in the Comox Valley.

DianneHawkinsTHDianne HawkinsEvery two years MNP presents the State of the Island report with a regional and provincial focus. For 2018 we are looking at how the federal, provincial and regional economies affect our businesses.

The Economic Forecasting event is usually sold out each year as there is much anticipation on where the ‘ball is rolling’ and having a professional overview of our region.

We are pleased to have panelists Braden Batch, CMHC Senior Market analyst for Vancouver Island; Adam Speigel, Senior account manager at BDC; and Susan Mowbray, MNP Senior Economist.

Susan will present the State of the Island report, Braden will speak to provincial housing markets and their effect on Vancouver Island, and Adam will give an overview of issues common to all businesses across Canada.

Join us for a Continental breakfast and knowledgeable speakers focusing on where our economy is and where it is likely to go in 2018.
Thanks to our partner MNP and our sponsor CVEDS.

Each year the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce presents the Annual Community Awards in January. This year’s Chamber Awards Gala is on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Florence Filberg Centre in downtown Courtenay.

The gala features a champagne reception, a sit down gourmet dinner, an Academy Awards-style video presentation of all award finalists, and a not-to-be missed silent auction. This year’s Chamber awards has a Beauty and the Beast theme.

Thank you to our award and event sponsors many whom have been supporting this community event for years. We consider them the foundation of the event’s success.

For 43 years the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce has celebrated the community in recognizing businesses, organizations, and individuals that exemplify the very best of the Comox Valley.
