NANAIMO – White Sails Brewing added to it’s trophy case over the weekend, taking home two Silver Medals at the Canadian Brewing Awards in Toronto.

Local landmarks Snake Island and The Bastion were celebrated on the national stage, with White Sails’ Snake Island Cascadian Dark Ale and Bastion Blonde Ale awarded the Canadian Brewing Awards Silver Medals in the American-Style Black Ale and North American Style Blonde or Golden Ale categories.

“It’s amazing to be recognized alongside some truly iconic Canadian breweries,” said  Brian McCarthy, Marketing and Sales Manager at White Sails. “We draw a tremendous
amount of inspiration from Nanaimo and our local community. To be able to stand on stage at Canada’s largest craft beer award show and share our passion for brewing while representing Nanaimo on the national stage was incredible.”

Opened in 2015 and located in Nanaimo’s downtown core, White Sails focuses on brewing  locally inspired beer for its large, West Coast-inspired Taproom. With one of the smallest
production breweries on the Island, White Sails focuses on quality crafted boutique brewing, distributing it’s cans and bottles to retailers across Vancouver Island.

The  downtown Taproom has quickly grown into a community gathering place, reflecting and  celebrating the local art and culture of Nanaimo. Known for hosting a number of  community events, ranging from the weekly Friday Cask Nights to a monthly Yoga On Tap, White Sails aims to engage their community and provide a gathering space for locals and visitors alike.
